Riding has been a part of Alanis Milner-Moore’s life since the age of three, sparked by her mother and aunt. Her cousins evented, which started her love for the sport.
At 10, she was bought her first pony and at 14, she teamed up with her now top horse, Miss Maybell, a six-year-old, purchased from Neil Fox. Together, they have successfully competed up to 3*, Alanis gaining her first experiences at Advanced/4* level. Throughout her early years, she was fortunate to be mentored and coached by Sue Chadwick, who guided Alanis from her Pony Club days at Rockwood Harriers all the way up to 4* competition.
Alanis also owns Brookfield Jack, an eight-year-old bought five years ago. He is currently competing at novice/2* and the goal is to progress him through the levels.
Some of her competitive highlights include representing the Northern Region at the U18 Championships in both 2019 and 2021. In 2023, she was selected for the BEF Young Professionals Programme.
During a gap year, Alanis based herself with James Sommerville, gaining an insight into the workings of a professional yard. She then moved on to university, where she is currently in her final year studying Science of Sports Performance.
Alongside competing, she runs a small livery business that includes a full livery and three racing foals who are in for handling before they progress to pre-training. Coaching is another of her passions, being part of her clients’ journeys, helping them build confidence, improve their skills, and achieve their goals.
