Emma Thomas

Emma is a 25 year old event rider hailing from Warwickshire. She discovered her love of horses at a young age and spent some years in a riding school before joining the Pony Club aged nine. As she didn’t come from a horsey family, it took a while to discover her passion for eventing. However, after watching Badminton one year she caught the bug.

When she was 16, The Buzz Factor came into her life as a raw five-year-old to do Pony Club and potentially some Intermediates. Two years later he won the PC Open Eventing championships and a year after that the pair did their first advanced together.

After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College with a degree in Biology in 2021, Emma decided to turn professional. Since then she has been successful with placings up to 4* level. This Autumn she went double clear at Burghley, her first 5*, with Icarus X, the second horse she has produced, to place 18th and best British first timer.

Now with a lovely string of young horses looking to follow in his footsteps, Emma is really looking forward to the seasons to come with big ambitions. Emma is also a member of the GB Student Riding Squad, and became AIEC Show Jumping Individual World Champion in 2022.

2024 brought many successes and educational runs for Emma. Her biggest win to date came at Bramham on The Buzz Factor where she became the U25 National Champion. After having to pull out of Badminton with an abscess Icarus was aimed at Burghley where he jumped superbly but has an un- characteristic 20pens at the corner out of the water. he will be aimed at Badminton 2025.
