Sue’s love of horses and riding started aged 4 and her equestrian career now spans nearly 50 years.
She is passionate about coaching and helping people, and has held the BHSI Performance Coach in Complete Horsemanship qualification since 1999. Sue’s coaching career is all encompassing; she has trained successful Pony Club Championship Teams, delivered Regional Training for British Eventing (for whom she is a UKCC Level 3 Coach and Assessor), been involved in Pony and Junior Teams and helped career students to gain their professional BHS assessments. In 2006 Sue was selected to join Yogi Briesner’s Elite Coach Development Programme, training and coaching alongside several top international event riders.
For a number of years Sue evented up to Advanced level and 4*, but is now best known for producing young horses who have gone on to international accolades with professional riders. She still events her own horse (for fun!) at lower levels and ride a horse, trained by herself, at Advanced Medium dressage level for an owner.
In 2014 Sue gained her MSc in Sport Coaching from Leeds Becket University and became lead Coach Educator for the British Horse Racing Authority, where she has developed a coaching culture for jockeys and work riders. In 2019 she was awarded UK Coaching Coach Developer of the Year for her services to the Racing Industry.
Sue has been married to Simon for 40 years and they have two grown up children, William and Laura. Together Simon, Laura and Sue run a livery and competition yard in the Lincolnshire Wolds, where they enjoy the company of twenty liveries and five dogs.
